James Topham, Chairman of the Board
Mr. James Topham is well known and highly respected in Vancouver’s technology community. He was an audit partner in KPMG’s Technology Group in their Vancouver office for 20 years. As founder of the BC Technology Industries Association, he was a board member for its first nine years and has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the BCTIA in 2009. He initiated the founding of the Clean Technology CEO Alliance and served on its Advisory Board. Mr. Topham also served on the board for WINBC for three years and the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC for four years ending in 2010. In 2012, Mr. Topham received a Fellowship from the ICA-BC – it is the Institutes highest designation was given in recognition of Mr. Topham’s outstanding industry and career achievements. He is a founder and currently the Chair of the BC Social Ventures Partners, a group that contributes both time and money to local innovative charities. Mr. Topham is also a board member at two other publicly traded technology companies: Day4Energy (TSX: DFE) and Norsat International (TSX:NII).
Robert Nygren
As President and CEO for Epic Data, Mr. Robert Nygren is responsible for leading and managing the company’s strategic direction to achieve growth, profitability and operational excellence. Mr. Nygren brings to Epic Data extensive experience in managing and growing technology companies and has strong strategic, sales and marketing experience. Prior to joining Epic Data in 2008, Mr. Nygren was President & CEO of Fincentric Corporation, a global provider of enterprise software solutions to the financial services industry.
Iain Mant
Mr. Iain Mant is a partner in Fasken Martineau, one of the world’s leading international business law firms. His practice focuses on Securities, Mergers & Acquisitions for technology, life sciences, and mining. Mr. Mant’s valued contributions since joining Epic Data’s board in 2000 draw on his vast experience counseling companies throughout their growth, from start-up to public.
Cathy Li Ju
Ms. Cathy Li Ju is the General Manager of EpicHust; the joint venture between Epic Data and Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST) based in Wuhan, China. Ms. Ju is an accomplished leader in Vancouver’s business community and she serves as the Vice Chairman of the Northeast China Association of Canada and the Executive Secretary of the Canada China International Business Development Association and the Executive Secretary of the Canadian Community Service Association. Ms. Ju joined the board in 2010; she brings to Epic Data expertise in the financial industry, business and marketing in China.
Zheng Jiang
Mr. Zheng Jiang joined the Epic Data board in 2011 is president of North-America VanStar Investments Ltd. and Yunnan Da-Cheng Investment Company. Mr. Jiang has served as the Vice President of the Canadian Chinese Service Association (CCSA) and the Vice Chair of the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce.
Frank Pho
Mr. Frank Pho is Vice President, Global Expansion of Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and leads a team responsible for supporting Canadian companies in their global expansion efforts. Mr. Pho has over 20 years’ experience in the financial sector, including 15 years as a venture capitalist and serves on the board of many organizations. He is currently a member of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Cleantech Advisory Board, and of the Canada-China joint working group on Environment Protection and Energy Conservation. Mr. Pho holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma of Accountancy from Concordia University and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia (ICA-BC). He is fluent in English, French, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Fujian and Teochew (Chaozhou).
