Ensuring UID Compliance and Quality Data Collection
The Epic Data UID Validator not only validates UID markings for compliance, it collects accurate quality data at the source and along the manufacturing supply chain. Data that can help manage the supply chain and create the data foundation for product genealogy and lifecycle management applications.
The UID Validator comes as a stand-alone version or a networked version providing additional data capture and reporting capabilities.
For valid UID's, the UID Validator will deconstruct the data content and provide positive user feedback and optionally post the information to the UID Validator database where it can be referenced or shared with other applications. Supplier conformance performance reports are generated from collected results.
The UID Validator validates the 2D matrix generated item labels containing machine readable information (MRI) on items marked to comply with the US Department of Defense MIL-STD-130 standard. Both the syntax and semantics of the MRI are validated against the DoD specification.
If the UID is invalid, the bad scan is acknowledged with an explanation of what the issue was for the user and also posted to the UID Validator database. This helps the manufacture tell their supplier why the mark is not compliant. Although there is potential for multiple error conditions to exist, the application is valuable in identifying the main problem with the mark.
Highlights of the UID Validator:
- Interpretation of machine readable UID
- Conversion of machine readable UID into key data fields
- Works in conjunction with IntegraUID
- Deploys on wireless hand held terminals or on desk top computers equipped with 2D matrix scanners
