| RFID Tags Epic Data’s Passive Tag RFID solution is compliant with Military Standard 129 (MIL-STD-129) requirements which invoke the need for RFID capabilities within the Department of Defense (DoD) supply chain. The DoD supply chain benefits from an RFID solution by providing real-time benefits in inventory management, asset visibility and interoperability in an end-to-end integrated environment.
There are two types of RFID tags: Active and Passive.
Active RFID tags, which contain a battery and thus can transmit its signal autonomously and over longer distances, are used in industrial and commercial applications requiring greater reading distances or to support real time location solutions (RTLS).
Passive tags, which have no battery and require an external source to initiate signal transmission, are used for many applications typically replacing bar codes in supply chain and industrial applications.
